Hall County's outdoor severe weather warning sirens will be tested at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12.

The test will last about three minutes and use the standard wail alert tone. Officials conduct these audible tests once every three months to ensure the warning system is working properly.

Residents are reminded that any siren sounding outside of these scheduled tests should be treated as a real tornado warning. The Aug. 12 test will be canceled if severe weather threatens the area.

"Hall County has severe weather threats, including tornadoes, during each month of the year," Director of Hall County Emergency Management Zach Brackett said. "Preparing for these threats before they happen allows for peace of mind and a safe approach to severe weather, and I encourage all Hall County residents to sign up for our Citizen’s Alert System to receive potentially life-saving notifications about severe weather in a timely fashion."
